Earlier this month (March 2025), Apple launched its latest generation of the popular entry level iPad model, the iPad 11th Gen. There was no big fanfare around the launch which is seen by many online as more of a refresh of its predecessor, the iPad 10th generation.
That viewpoint might be a little unfair. It is true that the physical features remain the same, but there are a few key upgrades which will make it appealing to many.
The main upgrade comes in the processor where Apple have included their A16 Bionic chip, replacing the previous A14. The A16 Bionic chip is said to improve the processor to deliver up to 30% better performance, making usage faster and smoother, and brining it inline with Apples higher-end devices.
Another change comes in the form of a slight increase in the display size, with the 11th Gen having an 11” liquid retina display as opposed to the 10.9” in the 10th Gen, although it maintains the 2360 x 1640 resolution at 264ppi.
The last major change worth mentioning is that the size of the entry level memory has been doubled from 64GB to 128GB, but they have maintained the entry level price point of the 10th Gen, effectively meaning you get more for your money. They have also added a new high-end option of 512GB being added.
How does this effect our range?
The good news for Schiltron.IO customers and partners is that our Tough-PAC and IPORT 10th Gen range of cases and chargers are compatible with the new 11th Gen iPad. Consequently, any previous investments made in our system is protected. It is also worth mentioning, that this range is also compatible with the iPad Air 11-in (M2 and M3) models.
